A couple died in a murder-suicide shooting at their home late Saturday night, authorities said.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 4200 block of Annette Street after receiving a call about 10:20 p.m. from a man who claimed he shot his wife and threatened to kill himself. Authorities later said the man and woman were married. They have not been identified.
Arriving deputies heard a single gunshot from inside the home. Inside they found a woman, 55, who had been shot once. The male suspect, 58, also was inside. Authorities say they believe he shot himself.
Both people were taken to local hospitals by Sacramento Metro Fire Department personnel, a sheriff’s department news release states. The woman died shortly after, and her husband underwent treatment for a life-threatening wound.
The suspect died Sunday morning.
